I can kind of see where Sen. Brown might be going with this. As one of the states biggest employers, we cannot afford to loose it. But….we should not go the down that road of S.C., Kentucky, Tenn.and others have with big auto. Nor do I think giving perks to, what should be an SOP to Boeing or other AMERICAN companies, yeah I’m talking about you Microsoft. The bottom line is their bottom line. Not the workers or the state of which they reside, like ummm Kansas. Which has the lowest min. wage in the nation. The NW plants now do not manufacture, they just put together what has been made elsewhere. And in some cases, our own workers here are training their foreign replacements!
I agree we need to stand-up education and healthcare not only for businesses but for the good of our dwindling labour force. Global competition being good for any economy is a false destructive theory, when big B exploits workers and resources all for the greatest gain of shareholders.
I also have to say labour has not garnered enough spine to take the kind of action that was needed to stop some of this years ago. Fear can and often does paralyze those affected.
As often said, the devil is in the details.
