In regards to the Workers Privacy Act and the Employee Free Choice Act, what follows is the official position of the Washington State Democratic Party. It is not ambiguous. It succinctly sets forth the position of The Party. Democrats in our State Legislature ran away from the Workers Privacy Act, and Democrats in Congress are running away from the Employee Free Choice Act. (Ditto for real health care “reform”, ending wars, campaign finance reform, ad nauseam.)
The Preamble to our Platform states: “We adopt this platform to ensure that voters, candidates for public office, and public officials understand and support our goals”.
Are we to remain silent? Are we to offer alibis on their behalf when lawmakers fail to represent us? If so, let’s dispense with future Platforms and Resolutions. Why devote time and energy crafting a grassroots Platform knowing full well that it is destined to be ignored? (And while we're at it, if we accept what currently passes for governasnce as fait accompli, let's drop the pretense that we're part of a viable grassroots movement. In theory, we elect people to represent us. In practice, by remaining silent, we're allowing them to rule us.)

Employee Free Choice Act
Resolves of Resolution 392, passed by the WSDCC on 1/24/09:
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Washington State Democrats hereby go on record as supporting the Employee Free Choice Act, which would authorize the National Labor Relations Board to certify a union as the bargaining representative when a majority of employees voluntarily sign authorizations designating that union to represent them; provide for first contract mediation and arbitration; and establish meaningful penalties for violations of a worker’s freedom to choose a union; and
THEREFORE BE IT FURHTER RESOLVED that the Washington State Democrats urge Congress to pass the Employee Free Choice Act to protect and preserve for America’s workers their freedom to choose for themselves whether or not for form a union; and

Excerpt from WA State Platform:
“We believe: Workers must have the enforced right to organize and collectively bargain in order to have livable wages”
“We call for: The automatic recognition of a union, based on signatures of a majority of those represented (card check)”
